Guidance & Counselling Department

Gone are the days when caning was the mode of punishment in schools. In the new dispensation, guidance and
counselling is a key department in monitoring learners’ behavior. In this department, we give pieces of advice to students and constantly talk to them on key issues that affect them academically, physically and morally.

This department is comprises of five able teachers who interact with the boys often. They are:
Madam Evelyn Liyai
Mr. Walter Obado
Mr. Castro Onyango
Madam Beatrice Ojala
Madam Beryl Keziah

We have active programmes such as:
Internal counselling sessions where each class is assigned a day that they have interactive discussion with the teachers. Guest speakers are invited to talk to the boys on key areas such as drug and substance abuse, financial saving and academics.

We also have form 4 surrogate parenting where each teacher is assigned about five students and he or she is
expected to mentor them. As teachers, our mandate is to give hope to those who have given up. There could
be challenges but we will not give up. We will continue pressing on, for our desire is to have students who
are dependable and trustworthy.

I do encourage parents and guardians to set time for their children and be role models to them, pray for them
and promote positive thinking in them. Your attitude will have an impact on them even when they are away from you.

Madam Evelyn Ingado
Head of Guidance and Counselling.
